We have been living at Old Silo Hill for three years. It fits our lifestyle perfectly while offering us a home that is comfortable and customized to fit our needs and desires. We love the location being a private development within a protected golf course community. The scenery of the golf course and lakes along with the quietness give us a feeling of security and “easy living”. The maintenance-free living allows for the ability to just lock the doors and go anywhere, anytime, without having concern for the upkeep of the property. We like the closeness of the new St. Joseph Hospital, other medical offices, restaurants and shopping.
The openness of the living areas gives us the feeling of spaciousness while providing for multiple furniture and decorating options. We were able to select our own colors and finishes right down to the kitchen cabinets, granite countertops, and stainless steel appliances. Our unit was personalized with two large bedrooms and two and one half baths while still having ample living and entertainment areas. We were able to choose hardwood or tile flooring where desired as well as plumbing and light fixtures.
We do appreciate the builder’s willingness to customize, however just as well we enjoy the low cost of living due to the low maintenance fees and quality construction that provides us with low utility cost. It is certainly a decision we are glad we made to come to Old Silo Hill.
When we reached retirement age, we began to think of downsizing to a home with smaller utility bills, less living area to maintain and an outside area that was maintenance free. It’s a time in life when you want the freedom to just lock up and leave without the worry of having to water and mow the lawn. Feeling safe and secure in our new residence was also a top priority. Well, we found all the answers to our questions at Old Silo, an active adult community for retired or semi retired folks who prefer to relax and do volunteer work, golfing or just relaxing instead of the never ending tasks of mowing lawns or shoveling snow. In this active adult community, the all brick homes are open, airy, light and spacious. The community, which borders the top rated golf course in Kentucky, is very quiet and peaceful. It’s a definite lifestyle change but we’re very comfortable, secure and happy living here. Our choice to move into Old Silo was a good one.
I really enjoy living here in the Old Silo Hill Retirement Community. The condos are really nice. I moved here from Lexington in August 2007 to be close to my sisters. I have come to realize what a wonderful place for me to be living. I especially like the convenience of the location, close to everything needed for a quality life.
Location, Location, Location, we have it here! We are approximately one (1) mile from I-64, two (2) minutes from the new hospital and restaurants. We are thirty (30) minutes from Lexington. We can walk to Old Silo Clubhouse. We have an excellent safety factor as everyone looks out for the other. We don’t mow grass, shovel snow or trim shrubs. We really enjoy living here.
